Valentino Rossi battled a still recalcitrant Ducati and his slowly recovering shoulder to take 7th place in his Ducati MotoGP debut at Losail, Qatar on Sunday. In what was a disappointing day for Ducati fans both Pramac Ducatis went out early whilst Nicky Hayden finished 9th.
Hector Barbera’s Ducati Desmosedici GP10 racer won’t be hard to spot this season. The Aspar team run by Jorge Martinez has the Spanish Yellow Pages (‘Paginas Amarillas Aspar Team’) as its major sponsor, hence the bright yellow color. The 2010 MotoGP season kicked off as 2009 ended with the 4 aliens on top but with rookie sensation, Ben Spies, already showing he is prepared to start his MotoGP career where he left off on Superbikes – at the front.
After two impressive substitute rides on the Pramac Ducati MotoGP machine, former 125 and 250 rider Aleix Espargaro will ride fulltime for the satellite Ducati squad in 2010. With that seat tied up there will be no Italians racing for Ducati for the first time in the company’s MotoGP history.
