We have written before about the business bomb that was the Ducati 999 which was rapidly replaced with the highly successful 1098/1198 series of Superbikes.  There is one area however where the 999 range reigns supreme.  Surprisingly it is in racing.

As unsuccessful as the Ducati 999 (see How the 999 Nearly Killed Ducati) was, mostly due to its styling, it does prove the old adage that there are no ugly race bikes. In race trim, the Ducati 999 takes on a rare beauty and this one is quite special being a Ducati Corse built 999RS.
