The Rapid Solicitors-Bathams Ducati team celebrated their first podium finish of the season at the fourth round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Thruxton last weekend as Michael Rutter secured second place at the team’s home round.
Riders Batham’s team mates Michael Rutter and Martin Jessopp took the top two spots in qualifying for the North West 200 Superbike race yesterday on their Ducati 1198R‘s. Rutter sits on pole with Jessop behind him after he achieving 198mph through the speed trap.
The 2011 BSB kicks off this weekend and once again Rapid Solicitors-Bathams will be fielding a Ducati entry with Michael Rutter, Martin Jessopp and Michael Booth (in the Superstock 1,000 class). The team have had a positive winter of pre-season testing since the end of last season as both riders target a maiden title.

Rapid Solicitors is joining Bathams in sponsoring the RidersMotorcycles.com British Superbike team for 2011, with the team now to be known as Rapid Solictors-Bathams Racing and will field updated Ducati 1198R Superbikes for team riders Martin Jessopp and Michael Rutter. Rutter will also race the Ducati at the Isle of Man TT.
Ducati has sold its 4 factory 1198R Superbikes to new Superbike class team, Liberty Racing. With the Bologna concern pulling out its factory Xerox Ducati team for 2011, the bikes will carry on in competition with riders Sylvain Guintoli and Jakub Smrz on board.
Larry Pegram is putting his pair of factory Ducati 1198F08 Superbikes on the market immediately following the final round of the 2010 AMA Pro Superbike series at Barber Motorsports Park later this month. The price? $100,000 each.
The factory Ducati World Superbike squad have concluded 2 days of testing at Mugello ahead of this weekend’s German Round of the series at Nurburgring. The test was mostly used to shake the cobwebs out after the month long summer break.
