The first day of the GP de la Comunitat Valenciana started off well for the Ducati Team, with Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden riding comfortably in the wet conditions that marked both free-practice sessions. The teammates posted the third- and fourth-best times of the day, respectively, their fastest laps coming in the morning session.

MotoGP testing limits will be abolished for 2012 removing at least one of the barriers that has made development of the Ducati Desmosedici painfully slow for Valentino Rossi and his star crew chief, Jeremy Burgess.

Within moments of the tragic death of Marco Simoncelli it seemed the Internet was awash with rumors that Valentino Rossi would retire from racing. Ultimately the clamor became so loud the 9 time champion was forced to deny them which he did while speaking briefly to Italian journalists.

Carlo Pernat, the guy who first signed Valentino Rossi to a factory 125 contract with Aprilia in 1995 says that 2011 MotoGP champ, Casey Stoner, is owed an apology and that he is 90% sure Rossi will not taste victory with Ducati.
