You would think after the disaster of the current still to be endured 2 year failed experiment with Ducati that Valentino Rossi and his team would act to talk down their chances when the potential GOAT swings a leg back over a MotoGP Yamaha next year. Nope. Now Casey Stoner is calling them out.
According to UK journalist Mat Oxley, Jeremy Burgess, Rossi’s crew chief has been quite bullish about Vale’s prospects stating that race wins should be expected but falling short of making a call on the 9 times champ’s 2013 MotoGP title prospects. Oxley Tweeted that according to JB:-
“Race wins are definitely on the cards – whether he gets enough to win the championship is something else”
Casey Stoner, who took the MotoGP title for Ducati in 2007 has been the only rider to tame the Ducati and take regular race victories has been critical of Rossi’s very public failure on the red bike. Reacting to news of the Burgess he replied to Oxley on Twitter advising Rossi to go easy on the rhetoric:-
“May I suggest a more humble approach this time”
Whether you like Casey Stoner or not, his quips around the paddock will be sorely missed next year. When Casey escaped Ducati at the end of 2010 he was immediately fast on the Honda and won the 2011 championship. Time will tell if Rossi is capable of the same.
