Stoner Tells Rossi to be Humble

Casey Stoner at Valencia 2010 Stoner Tells Rossi to be Humble

You would think after the disaster of the current still to be endured 2 year failed experiment with Ducati that Valentino Rossi and his team would act to talk down their chances when the potential GOAT swings a leg back over a MotoGP Yamaha next year.  Nope. Now Casey Stoner is calling them out.

According to UK journalist Mat Oxley, Jeremy Burgess, Rossi’s crew chief has been quite bullish about Vale’s prospects stating that race wins should be expected but falling short of making a call on the 9 times champ’s 2013 MotoGP title prospects.  Oxley Tweeted that according to JB:-

“Race wins are definitely on the cards – whether he gets enough to win the championship is something else”

Casey Stoner, who took the MotoGP title for Ducati in 2007 has been the only rider to tame the Ducati and take regular race victories has been critical of Rossi’s very public failure on the red bike.  Reacting to news of the Burgess he replied to Oxley on Twitter advising Rossi to go easy on the rhetoric:-

“May I suggest a more humble approach this time”

Whether you like Casey Stoner or not, his quips around the paddock will be sorely missed next year.  When Casey escaped Ducati at the end of 2010 he was immediately fast on the Honda and won the 2011 championship.  Time will tell if Rossi is capable of the same.

  1. Agree with Stoner on this one. Vale would come off as arrogant if he wins, and a has-been if he loses. Either is possible and either isn’t good for his image.

  2. Quite the reverse, smug little pr@#k.

  3. Fu€& off stoner!

  4. stoner talking crap, as usual.

  5. Casey is and will forever be a smart crazy and truthful speaking Rider..there’s no one like him..

  7. Clearly Rossi did more for Ducati than Stoner, not!

  9. Interesting for Rossi not to be the nr one in the team. Rossi forgot that the people You meet on the way up to the top You meet on the way down.

  10. Rossi fans, the truth doesn’t hurt, it only helps to open your eyes for what really happens, 23 wins on Ducati for Stoner, 0 wins for Rossi . even if you look at the years they both where active in the motoGP 37 wins for Stoner ( 38 poles), Rossi 26 wins ( 24 poles)

  11. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. 7 premier titles, 9 world championships, to 2. I say Stoner should disappear quietly into retirement.

  13. Yeah, like Stephen said, 9 vs 2, says it all really.

  14. Stoner did nothing new n rossi gets to ride it at d age of 32 so dats n diffrence n the setup is d main thing in which jb clearly failed n evn rossi too , in rain he was fast n showed us what he can do if the gp12 gets better by a bit

  15. “7 premier titles, 9 world championships, to 2. I say Stoner should disappear quietly into retirement”

    +1

  16. Dear ducati, Please start the next season with the winning bike that Stoner drove. Get rid off everything developted by Rossi en Burgess. Any good driver with big balls can win on a real ducati!!

  17. Is Moto GP that bad, that now we have to keep talking about Stoner and Rossi in the same sentences?….. 2007 was the year Moto GP made the switch on engines correct, so Ducati was ahead on that one…. the next year, not so much… so yeah, Stoner is ok, but he’s not Rossi, nor Pedrosa! And do we need to mention how horrible his 2006 season was? The dude couldn’t stay on the bike.. crashed like ever other race!

  19. Everyone is so quick to talk shit on Stoner but at the end of the day he was and is the only one with enough balls to ride the Ducati beyond its limits, the only one to win a championship let alone a race on the Desmo and the only one with enough balls to tell it like it is to Rossi. Rossi is abandoning the brand that you fools love and going back to the keyboard company. Wake up people!

  20. Pot, meet kettle.
Both have enormous egos. Both have earned them.

  21. Burgess said it takes 80 sec to make the ducati a winning bike, Rossy said Stoner drive the duc not at his compleet potentional now they had the chance to prove they r richt, but like it is now ,a compleet disaster,
i would love to see Casey now back on the duc so he could humiliate rossy, but i m afraid this is not going to be, but i m sure Lorenzo will do it !!!!!!

  22. Go Casey tell it as it is We will miss you in Moto GP….

  23. Stoner is a fucking retard. Talks shit as usual.

  24. I’ll say it again… Stoner rode a completely different bike to what Rossi is riding now. They cannot be compared.

  25. In 20 years people will be saying Rossi what a Champion!!!!! And thy will say Casey WHO..Ho yeah the quitter that lift Moto GP because he did not get his WAY. For all you Rossi haters 7 Moto GP Championships says it all.(Casey Stoner is calling them out.)Stoner needs go f*#k of.

  26. Time will tell !! nothing else !

  27. to the rossy fans, just face it , he failed , it would be not that hard if he didn’t have a big mouth just as burgess, but face it in 2 years not one podium, and no 3 th is no podium , now the doctor needs a doctor !!!!!

  28. I think the Capirossi interview puts everything into perspective. He’s been around Ducati and the series long enough to know what’s going on.
I sincerely hope Audi can shake things up and get a fresh spproach to Ducati’s R & D. I would really hate to see them out of the series.

  29. I don’t understand why Stoner must give a shout to Valentino Rossi. It’JB who said that Vale will have chance to win again in Yamaha. Then why did Stone must put the blame to Rossi? Silly !!!

  30. I get it, you Rossi fans think he’s the greatest, and you’ll come up with any excuse you can, but face it – he failed Ducati. Stoner won on Ducati. Rossi is a has been, he was the best on the old bikes, but now they’re newer and need new skills. Let’s see if I eat my words – but I’m not so certain he’ll do so great on a Yamaha either.

  31. hahaha Look at all the little Rossi fans coming out to defend their so called hero.

Face it you lot Rossi and Burgess got too big for their boots, Stoner may not be the most like-able person but hes telling it how it is. Everyone who knows anything about bikes knows that the Ducati is different to other bikes and it takes a particular rider to make it work, but when it does work it works extremely well thats why its the way it is (only have to look at the stats and Ducati are still the leading bike for race wins, championship wins and manufacturer of the year awards).

An people can say Stoners just moaning and running away because he didn’t get his own way which may be true but you are obviously forgetting how Rossi ended up with Ducati in the first place, by throwing a major hissy fit with Yamaha for them telling him to give his bike set up to Lorenzo. I used to like Rossi until this and now he is just giving Ducati a bad name because he cannot hack the bike so good riddance.

  32. heres the facts? rossi and stoner are very great riders but let me lay the stoner 2007 world title ghost to rest? the 2007 duke was by far the faster bike and as i can recall 2007 was by far the wettest race year ever? so casy was fast on duke in wet and rossi fast on duke in wet. casey was lucky to have lots of wet races its a pity he aint got the balls to take rossi on with the yamaha against honda… if he did he may have to throw the lactose intolerance crap in again or baby keeping him up all night. result? casey very good rider but not in the same leauge as the goat.

  33. Casey Stoner has every right to voice his opinion. Shame on Valentino and Company for the broken promises to DUCATI – even the test rider is faster on the GP-12!!!!!!!!! Rossi wouldn’t want to hurt himself for Yamaha would he? Stronzo!

    George Villar

  34. I think Rossi had a perfect storm. Marco, his broken leg, and a new manufacturer. I doubt his effort. There was times Hayden and the sat team were faster then Rossi. He proved that he could never adapt and his heart was not in it. Ducati got the shaft from Rossi. Good riddance! He is capable as his record suggest, but that Rossi may never be back!

  35. STONER IST EIN WEINER
    STONER IS A WEINER
    STONER IS EEN WEINER
    STONER SI A WEINER

  36. MEULLE.LOL..very good..
