Let’s Try That Again: Ducati Issues 1199 Panigale Triple Recall

Ducati Panigale 1199 S Dash Lets Try That Again: Ducati Issues 1199 Panigale Triple Recall

Ducati has issued a recall notice for not one but three different issues with its newest model the Ducati 1199 Panigale.  The recalls relate to the exhaust butterfly valve cover, steering head threads and Ohlins steering damper.

Recent Ducati new model introductions have all been subject to multiple recalls.  The Ducati Streetfighter has been subject two recalls, the Multistrada 1200 to two recalls of its own and the Ducati Diavel owner had 3 unplanned trips to dealer to deal with relatively minor issues.

It seems that modern models are being delivered like software with some bugs that need to be ironed out along the way.  At least the Panigale owner can get all 3 resolved at the same time!

The Ducati 1199 Panigale recalls are for:

Recall #1 : Exhaust butterfly valve bowden cable cover (12V392000):

“Ducati is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 1199 Panigale motorcycles manufactured from March 16, 2012, through July 12, 2012. The exhaust butterfly valve bowden cable cover could melt or burn due to excess heat of the catalytic converter.”

Recall #2 : Steering head threads (12V400000):
“Ducati is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 1199 Panigale motorcycles manufactured from March 16, 2012, through July 12, 2012. Screws that secure the steering damper to the steering head could fall out due to an insufficient amount of Loctite applied to the threads.”

Recall #3 : Öhlins steering damper (12V399000):

“Ducati is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 1199 Panigale motorcycles manufactured from March 16, 2012, through July 12, 2012 . Due to an incorrect assembly tolerance, the Uniball bearing on the damper rod eyelet could slip out of its seat on the Ohlins steering damper.”

  1. The butterfly valve cover sounds like a design flaw. The other issues just a build issue.. not enuff loc tite? And the mighty ohlins is not perfect?? My goodness. … I wouldn’t think twice about buying one!!!

  2. I <3 Ducati

  3. I think you forgot the recall where the actual bolt holding the rear suspention in place has to be replaced with one that actually fits.

  4. I think we can thank lawyers primarily in the US for most of these recalls. Any sniff of any possibility of the risk of a possible flaw or the minute possibility of an error that might possibly lead to a risk of failire and they recall them. When the 916SP was first delivered they stuck on what ever was in the parts bin at the time.
Would you get away with a retracting side stand today, unlikely becauase of the risk of a forgetful rider falling off the bike.

Audi vil likeli zort any qvality kontol iszzues anyway,
