Ducati Confirms Rossi to Leave

As the MotoGP series awaits its return to action for the August 19 Indianapolis Grand Prix, Ducati has announced that its working relationship with Valentino Rossi will conclude at the end of the 2012 MotoGP World Championship.

Ducati wishes the Italian well for the new challenges that await him, and in the meantime, the team will continue to give its best effort in order to improve over the latter part of the season.

Racing has always been in Ducati’s DNA, and now more than ever, it is integral to the Borgo Panigale company’s product development and image. AUDI shares Ducati’s strategic approach and agrees with its growing commitment to competition.

Therefore, having recently renewed its agreement with American Nicky Hayden, Ducati is in the process of finalizing the team that will take part in the 2013 World Championship, confident that its team and bike will be capable of competing at the highest level.

Rossi is expected to join Yamaha and now that Ducati have announced his loss the Yamaha factory team are free to announce his return to the tuning fork brand ahead of the Indy GP.

  1. He Will not be missed…

  2. I am sad to see he go, for me he is a very talented driver, which cannot handle the Ducati as good as everyone wished.
in this situation it is probably best for both Vale & Duc

  3. Hayden cant handle it much better. Seems the bike is still the same distance from the front as the same time last year. If Rossi can put the yamaha on the front row then we will know it was the ducati to blame!

  4. I’m sorry to see him go. We all wished that he would have done better, but he turned into a $20mil albatross.

  5. Maybe Audi are having some financial cut backs already

  6. Good to see Vale choosing for himself and to have fun in riding the bike again and to be able to compete with others without all those terrible difficulties @Ducati. Great that he tried and surely had his fun:)I wish Vale all the best with his his new team, Yamaha?:D I’m sure it all will turn out just fine :) forza bello Vale=)x

  7. Shattered.

  8. Bravo, Ducati !! Now maybe they`ll realise that they need to build a MotoGp bike & not a frikkin scooter !

  9. Nicky seems to better on the Ducati than Rossi anyways. You watch next year Nicky will be challenging for the title. Good luck Rossi you wont be missed.

  10. Stoner did ok on it…

  12. Rossi disappointingly taking the easy way out and can still lose if Cal or Dove can manage the bike

  13. Give the same dam crazy paycheck to BAYLISS for a one year contract. That crazy Aussie will fix it.

  14. finaly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Who is better talent Rossi or Stoner.??? Stoner rode the Duc as hell.

  16. FINALLY!

  17. Not convinced it is the best move. He is seen as having failed especially if the bike next yr is better. Ho9nda will do anything and everything to stop Yamahaha next yr and Audi will not be seen to fail in the next 2 yrs of ownership, that is for certain.
Rossi will not be top dog at Tuning fork inc and Lorenzo will be hungry to prove he is better.
As for this “Who is better talent Rossi or Stoner.??? Stoner rode the Duc as hell” it was stacey who screwed it up in the first place by demanding a new frame to replce the “inconsistent and too flexible” steel trellis frame. His results in 08 and 09 show this clearly with the carbon frame introduced in 08. He will not be missed.

Gone off Vale as well. If Ducati sign And Davio and Audi smack Ducati corse enough, it could be a great season of surprises. lets hope so or else another season of WSB beckons.

  18. just bought a multistrader to be told it neades a new set of front forkes wot chance did rosy hove||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| and wuld be six weeks delivery |||||||||||||||

  19. If Stoner didnt got sick in 08 he would have bin champ for that year. So he screwed up for that year.Ducati must keep the pace and make this bike work. Nicky will make it better.

  20. Rossi will always be a World Champion, just not with a Ducati – what a shame.
