Ducati North America Finally Beats 2007 Sales Record

Cristiano Silei CEO Ducati North America

Sales at Ducati North America reached a new 12-month high, surpassing the previous record set in 2007, with 10,094 new motorcycles delivered. A retail sales gain of 26 percent was also recorded in Q2 compared to the same period in 2011, marking the eighth consecutive quarter of growth.

Showing just how tough the motorcycle market has become since the onset of the global financial crisis in 2008 which heralded a protracted contraction of the market place, Ducati has taken the best part of 5 years to restore sales levels to 2007 levels albeit with a far larger share of the now much smaller market.

Ducati’s growth was fueled by the arrival of new models in dealerships, including the highly anticipated 1199 Panigale Superbike, which recently earned “2012 Motorcycle of the Year” by Motorcyclist magazine, and the confidence-inspiring Streetfighter 848. Also new to the Ducati product line is the Diavel Cromo, a vintage interpretation of the powerful Diavel, with a striking chrome-plated tank and classic Ducati logos.

“There are many factors that led us to reach this milestone, but none are as significant as the constant support we receive from our passionate customers and the tremendous contributions that are made daily by our dealer partners,” said Cristiano Silei, CEO of Ducati North America. “Combined with the company’s most attractive commercial and marketing programs to date and the largest product line in our history, we are confident this growth will continue into the rest of 2012.”

The Ducati product range continues to strengthen and diversify and its market performance reflects the strength of its brand and the continued investment in new model development despite the difficult business conditions.

  1. Will this be enough to keep Nicky Hayden in the 2013 squad?

  2. yup, i reckon. Ducati don’t need rossi so let him go to other team.

  3. I dnt understand all the talking with other pilots and interest keeping Rossi, when Hayden is the one delivering the best results! I think is making a kind of a dangerous move letting Haiden go…

  4. *(…) I think Ducati is making(…)

  5. Mark,
It’s about time for you to start making predictions on what’s coming for 2013. Still no Supermono or Scrambler probably.

Seeing how the Sport Classics are selling used for much more than original MSRP maybe something in that genre would be successful. Wait, I forgot that those were penned by “Il Paria”. So I guess not.

  6. You’re Welcome!

I would like to see a new SUPERMONO Evoluzione with the 1199’s frameless design, 499cc single cylinder, Supermono bodywork cues and colors.
