Rossi Denies He Will Quit Racing
Within moments of the tragic death of Marco Simoncelli it seemed the Internet was awash with rumors that Valentino Rossi would retire from racing. Ultimately the clamor became so loud the 9 time champion was forced to deny them which he did while speaking briefly to Italian journalists.
The rumors, according to Motomatters.com, can be traced back to Steve Parrish’s comments in a BBC column.
“My first thoughts – and this is absolutely my own gut feeling – are that Rossi could now retire.”

It is most unfortunate that Parrish felt the need to express such a personal thought like this only a matter of hours following Simoncelli’s death. The death was upsetting enough without having to watch numerous media and blogging outlets rush to outdo each other in creating “link bait” posts, some of them in extremely poor taste.
Rossi clearly felt so too as his move to clearly indicate that he has no intention of quitting refers to those who would exploit a great racer’s death to sell a few more copies or garner a few more clicks.
“Quit? I do not know who said it, but it wasn’t me … Maybe it was to sell more newspapers….Marco was great. We shared so many memories, we used to meet almost every day, we’d train together and we’d race against each with any type of machine that had an engine.”
