Chaz Davies to Race a Ducati in World Superbike
Newly crowned 2011 World Supersport champion Chaz Davies will move up to the World Superbike class next year as the the ParkinGO team trades in its Yamaha R6 for the Ducati 1198R.
Davies has had some Ducati seat time in the past. In 2007 Davies had 3 outings as a replacement rider on a Pramac Ducati in MotoGP. His profile was raised when in 2008 he was named the winner of the Daytona 200 after race winner Josh Hayes was disqualified for an illegal crankshaft.
Team ParkinGO has ordered brand new 2012 specification Ducati 1198R’s from the factory and will have both a mechanical and an electronics engineer from Ducati Corse. Chaz appears excited:-
“I rode a Ducati 800 before but it is going to be a million miles away from what this is. Only the brand will be the same. I rode a twin once before for a season in AMA, just not a Ducati. To start in Superbike with all the personnel, like Moro and Lucio and two guys from Ducati – you cannot really ask for a better start.”

As the champ and friend of the new MotoGP champion Casey Stoner points out, he has had experience with a big twin before. In 2009 he campaigned an Aprilia RSV1000R in the DMG Daytona Sportbike class putting the essentially obsolete machine on the podium a couple of times against the Yamaha R6s and the booming championship winning Buell. Ducati News Today expects big things from the Welshman in 2012.
Welcome to the Ducati family Chaz!
