Troy Bayliss Teases Ducati Announcement

A short, amateurish video featuring none other than 3 time World Superbike champion Troy Bayliss posted on Ducati’s official YouTube channel today teases an announcement from Ducati scheduled for next Wednesday. What is it?

Your guess is as good as mine but my guess would be something to do with the 2012 Ducati 1199 Superbike. Troy is inextricably linked to Ducati’s World Superbike efforts and is much loved by Ducatisti the world over.

Troy is taking part in the development of the 1199 and is in Italy in the timeframe where the ‘SuperQuadro’ was tested in World Superbike spec.

Teasing with a Ducati racing star seems to be the latest trick from Bologna. Nicky Hayden posted a photo of the new Ducati Streetfighter 848 on his Twitter feed immediately before its official announcement. Models rumored to be in Ducati development include a Multistrada 848 and a Ducati Scooter. The formal unveiling of the 1199 is expected to be at the EICMA show in Milan this November.

What do you think the announcement could be? Chime in with your views in the comments section below.

  2. It is bad enough for Ducati to produce something so different from its usual style such as the Diavel just to attract the Harley boys, but I just can’t accept a Ducati scooter! However I would accept any horrid new bike provided Ducati will keep away from the ugly hands of Mercedes. If Ducati ceases to be Ducati and Italian I will never buy one of their bikes again!

  3. […] has been helping in the development of the 1199 Panigale and rode the bike at Mugello today. He issued a teaser video recently immediately ahead of the Ducati announcement of the Panigale name for the new model. […]
