Fancy a Ducati 1199 Rossi Replica?

New spy photos of the the 2012 Ducati 1199 Superbike have surfaced on the interwebs of the radical new Ducati undergoing further road testing. At the same time a new rendering of the bike depicting a hypothetical Valentino Rossi edition has the distinction of looking mighty fine indeed.

Will Ducati make a Valentino Rossi replica edition of the new Ducati 1199 with the oh so revvy Superquadrata powerplant? Pretend you’re the head of marketing at Ducati and decide. If they do (and Ducati News Today still favors another road going Desmosedici this time with 800cc) it could do a lot worse than the rendition shown above.

Whatever the final specifications, Ducati continues to show its mastery of the controlled leak as the company heads towards the official announcement of the 1199 at the EICMA show in Milan this November. In the meantime if you want all the details on the new Superbike check out 2012 Superbike Boldly Goes Where No Ducati has Gone Before.

  1. Might be more fitting to have a 1198 Checa edition. Last of the Ducatis with signature elements and (look to be) going out as a winner.

  2. Exactly!! make a 1198R checa edition, who cares about Rossi crap. he hasn’t won anything on a Ducati. Ducati did Stoner wrong and never offered a Stoner replica for the desmosedici RR. Thats why they lost him. taking people for granted!

  3. And if Ducati does do another desmosedici RR in 800cc most smart people like me would do it in Stoner color scheme NOT Rossi. The GP6 replica they already released should have been in Capirossi replica colors. Why on earth did they offer Stoner stickers and GP7 exhaust for a GP6 replica with 990 cc. Sooo stupid!!!!! Termi should have made a GP6 style exhaust for that bike NOT a GP7 style exhaust.

  5. Please do NOT do a Rossi replica, it is way too early (Best for Ducati to put this season behind them anyway)and personally I think Rossi’s signature neon Yellow looks like crap with the almost neon Ducati Red. Hayden’s racebike looks far better than Rossi’s does. As for the bike itself just introduce it with no race rep colors for the first year, just a nice understated Red, and let the bike stand on its own merits… I am actually exited about the bike, I just hope they will shorten the engine lengthwise so they can make the swingarm longer, and reduce the rake of the front end. Maybe go to a 30mm offset triple clamp straight from the factory. Aesthetically the only thing I don’t like about the new bike is the location of the rear shock that I have seen in pictures. I think a better solution would have been the mount it horizontally like the new Kawi ZX-10R, instead of on the side of the bike…
