Entries for the 2011 Ducati Monster Challenge close this Friday, July 15th. The customization competition is an opportunity for North American Ducatisti to share their personalized Monster creations and compete for the chance to win a Dream Ducati experience for two to Bologna, Italy.
All new generation Ducati Monsters are eligible as long as they retain the stock frame and have a Ducati engine. This year’s competition has two categories (amateur and professional) and happens in two phases. First, contestants will submit their entries online to be voted upon by members of the Ducati Community. The two contestants from each category with the highest number of votes will win an exclusive Ducati MotoGP experience at the Indianapolis MotoGP where their bikes will be displayed and they will compete for the grand prize.
The grand prize is a Ducati Experience of a Lifetime, a weeklong trip for (2) to Bologna, Italy, including travel and accommodations along with Ducati Factory Experience and the loan of a Ducati motorcycle to be used during your stay.
Entries need to be submitted by July 15th with the online voting closing on July 31st. The grand prize winner will be announced prior to the start of the Indy MotoGP race on August 28th. The full terms and conditions are available on Ducati’s Web site.
As you can see there are some great entries and the boundary between amateur and professional efforts is hard to detect. The opening photo is Wayne Ransom’s Monster 1100. Proving that you don’t need the latest and greatest to ride something trick is Vance Harper’s Monster 696 complete with a single sided swingarm conversion. Finally the Zip Trip Racing Monster 696 looks the business with a collection of largely cosmetic changes.
