Casey and Karel Clash at Mugello Test

Mug 4 thumb Casey and Karel Clash at Mugello TestMotoGP points leader Casey Stoner fresh from dishing the dirt on his former employer had another ‘press friendly’ moment during this week’s Mugello test session. After an on track clash with
Ducati mounted MotoGP rookie Karel Abraham which left marks on both machines, the pair took it to the pits with a heated exchange.

With the factory 1,000 machines not present at the post Italian MotoGP official test session at Mugello, you could be excused for stifling a bit of a yawn. No need however as HRC’s Casey Stoner became involved in another altercation with a fellow rider (he was fined earlier this year for an on track incident with Randy De Puniet).

Apparently the Honda star came across rookie Ducati satellite rider Karel Abraham at the final corner. It seems Abraham may have been wanting to follow Stoner. Stoner passed Abraham but then slowed to allow Abraham back through. The two bikes came together hard enough to leave tell tale signs but both riders stayed on board.

The pair ended up in a heated exchange back in the pits where Abraham confronted Stoner on his alleged actions. Although exactly where the blame lies is hard to assess Stoner for his part says he will reach out to the young Czech Republic rider at the next round in Sachsenring.

“I’m a bit disappointed but I’ll probably go and speak to him at Sachsenring and see if we can resolve it and improve the situation.”

Stoner ultimately set the fastest time of the test, under the lap record whilst Abraham finished with the 5th fastest time, almost three quarters of a second faster than his best time in the race.

Abraham:- We tried a lot of things today,“ said twenty-one years old rider, who set a best time of 1:48,950 and finished fifth. „We have made significant changes and solved problems we had during the race weekend.“
