The 5th round of the 2011 MotoGP World Championship saw Valentino Rossi take his Ducati Desmosedici to 5th place at the Grand Prix de Catalunya in Spain. Ducati is supporting a fantastic motorcycle safety initiative created by the county of Sussex in the UK. Entitled ‘Stay A Hero, Stay Safe’ the campaign is aimed at reducing the number of motorcyclists casualties on Sussex’s roads each year. Check out the positive and uplifting video after the jump.

After just two rounds of the 2011 AMA Pro Racing Championship, officials have acted to penalize the Ducati 848EVO in the Daytona Sportbike and Supersport classes by changing the minimum weight limits.

Spanish bloggers are reporting that Aspar racing will field two satellite Ducati MotoGP machines next season coincident with the change to 1,000cc racers. The team contract expires at the end of the season so Jorge Martinez is in talks with Ducati about future plans.

Ducati privateer and New York racer PJ Jacobsen scored a career best second place finish at this past weekend’s BigM AMA Pro Superbike event, which was held at Miller Motorsports Park, in Toole Utah. Racing in front of a global audience, Jacobson started the weekend out strong and asserted himself as an early frontrunner.

Ducati UK is to auction the Ducati 1198 Valentino Rossi rode recently at Silverstone during the official launch of the new Silverstone Wing, with a donation from the sale being made to motorcycling’s favourite charity, Riders for Health.
