Another MotoGP Ducati for 2012?

barbera01 original1 thumb Another MotoGP Ducati for 2012?Spanish bloggers are reporting that Aspar racing will field two satellite Ducati MotoGP machines next season coincident with the change to 1,000cc racers. The team contract expires at the end of the season so Jorge Martinez is in talks with Ducati about future plans.

It was no secret that Martinez courted Alvaro Bautista whom he managed during the young rider’s 2006 125 World Championship before he ultimately chose Suzuki, not wanting to ride a Ducati. With the Suzuki still uncompetitive (and likely to remain so) and with rumors of a complete withdrawal at the end of the season, Jorge may be hoping that with Rossi now developing the Ducati, the Italian brand will have some appeal when Alvaro’s contract is up at the end of the season.

The combination of Bautista and the team’s current rider Hector Barbera could make an attractive combination.
