First Glimpse of the 2012 Ducati Superbike
The first spy photo of a disguised 2012 Ducati Superbike, termed the Superquadrata (for now) has appeared online following the track test of the Superstock and Superbike versions of the bike last week at Mugello.
It is well known that a Radical Overhaul is planned for the new 2012 Ducati Superbike. Last week, Team Barni FIM Cup Superstock 1000 racer, Danilo Petrucci, tested both the Superbike and Superstock versions of the new 2012 Ducati Superbike which has become known as the Superquadrata – a reference to the ultra short stroke of its all new V-twin engine.
The new bike is a shorter, lighter, more compact motorcycle with a larger airbox. Into this will go the new short-stroke ‘Superquadrata’ engine. Back in March last year, an Italian newspaper first mentioned the new development which is expected to be a desmo, 4-valve, V-twin of 1194cc capacity from ultra short stroke dimensions of 112 x 60.6mm. The engine will be capable of higher revs and thus more power than the existing 1198 with its 67.9mm stroke and will have gear driven cams to maintain valve timing control at the elevated revs.
The new model will be formally unveiled to the public at the Milan EICMA show this November.

Kick-ass front forks and brakes. Looks small and pain-full. 6 foot or taller may not fit.
Also…look at the rear shock, it is going length-ways. No frame to attach to, so it must attach to the engine.. just a guess. But this thing looks uber small.. I am talking way tiny. Race track only ergonomics. I was really looking forward to this thing.. but now I realize why they made the diavel.
Like I said several months ago last year. it is going to look alot like the Aprilia RSV4 and the KTM RC8 mixed.
I am looking at all the initial blog chatter & folks it ain’t looking good for Ducati. Ducati used to be something special..now it is just another motorcycle corporation. There is a new pic out..street version…it looks like any other latest generation superbike…just smaller and frameless and show-casing the shock. Ehh..not going to spend 20,000 + just to say I have one. The 999 ruled the track, but nobody came…If this thing doesn’t win & doesn’t sell…bye bye Mr. CEO Then hopefully they will make something that instills lust again.
