BevelTech Ducati 900SS Racer

ducati 900SS 1 thumb BevelTech Ducati 900SS RacerAustralia has a special relationship with Ducati. For much of 870′s and 80′s, Australia was the biggest export market for the company and this fact explains why there are so many Bevels there in a country of just 20 million or so. It also has some great Ducati Specialists. Prepare to drool over the BevelTech Ducati 900SS BEARs Racer.

Tony Hannagan of BevelTech is the man responsible for this delectable bevel Ducati 900SS road racer designed for the antipodes BEARs racing series which focusses on non Japanese brands (BEARs stands for British European Amerian Racing). As an aside the series included one homegrown New Zealand Britten V1000 which blew even Ducati 888′s away back in the day.

Combine this beauty with fantastic professional photographer and Ducastista Phil Aynsley and it is hard to keep our jaw from hitting the floor. The frame is from an 860 but with modified geometry such that it now replicates a 916′s numbers. Plenty of attention has been spent on keeping the bike light with the result of a frankly hard to believe 290lbs (132kg).

The engine has Imola cams, high compression Cosworth pistons and the ports have been cleaned up for higher flow. Phil Aynsley took the photographs which is fitting since he included the 2006 Vern special in his excellent book ‘Ducati A Photographic Tribute‘ which we reviewed last year and is available on Amazon.
