1974 Ducati 750SS For Sale
If you asked most Ducatisti of a certain age, which model they covet most highly, the answer is likely to be the original green frame Ducati 750 Super Sport of 1974. Built as a road going replica of the racer that Paul Smart famously took to victory in the Imola 200 in 1972, it was the first production bevel twin to feature desmodromic valve actuation. This one is for sale.
If you want to buy a bevel Ducati, the green frame, round case ’74 750SS is the one to go for if you have that kind of cash. By all accounts this particular bike is about as good an example as you’re likely to find.
First imported into the UK from Turin in 1985, copies of the original Italian papers are available. The bike passed through several owners in the UK until 2007 when it underwent a full bare-frame concourse restoration by one of the countries most renown restorer’s.
At the time of restoring the bike had a full engine rebuild by Pietro at Motori Dimarino (Pietro is the ex Pineways mechanic, and was responsible for the very quick 900SS Pineways campaigned in the 70’s). The restoration was very much a no expense spared undertaking which took over two years to complete. It is described as immaculate and in concourse condition.
The market for such exotic Ducatis is pretty hot. If you want to buy this one, expect to spend around $135,000, but what a way to spend money! The video below gives a little background about why these bikes are so special. If you happen to be in Australia and are interested in this bike then the people to speak to are Raider Motorsport.
