Rossi Should have had Surgery Earlier

Ducati Desmosedici Valentino Rossi Walpaper thumb Rossi Should have had Surgery EarlierWayne Garder believes Valentino Rossi’s decision to delay shoulder surgery until after he tested the Ducati Desmosedici for the first time last year was a mistake – one that he is now paying for.

Outspoken 1987 500 Grand Prix Champion, Wayne Gardner, seems to have an opinion about everything and everyone. Now that he has discovered the Internet (and that GIF isn’t the best format for text!) and Twitter he is broadcasting to anyone who will listen.

Wayne’s thesis seems to be that Rossi would have been in better shape now if he had abandoned the 2010 season to have his shoulder surgery in doing say foregoing any chance of riding the Ducati in 2010.

“To add insult to injury (or should that be injury to insult?), their star recruit is struggling with a shoulder that still looks to be far from its best. It’s a complete disaster and I can see no significant benefit in Rossi having delayed his surgery to test the bike late last year. If he’d instead been working on his recovery and rehabilitation, at least he’d now be in the position to tackle the Ducati at full fitness – something that would probably enable him to be further up the time sheets.”

Of course Wayne conveniently ignores that fact that Rossi’s shoulder damage was only discovered to be much worse than anyone anticipated when he went under the doctors knife. In addition, we have yet to see the benefits that will come from his early testing and we have no idea what would have been the impact if he hadn’t tested the bike in Valencia. Still Wayne put the boot into Casey Stoner last year but now raves about him. What a difference a year makes.
