Ducati Diavel on the Dyno
Ducati claim the Diavel is their fastest accelerating motorcycle to 60mph. The reality is that the reason for this has more to do with the wheelbase of the bike and weight distribution than outright power. Still the Diavel claims 162bhp from its testastretta 11º engine which is hardly chump change. Now that the Diavel has been in owners hands for a few weeks, dyno runs are starting to pop up with interesting results.
The first chart compares the Shift-Tech Diavel complete with full termi system, airfilter and DP ECU plus Power Commander mapped by Redline Motors with a similarly specced (but minus the Power Commander) Multistrada 1200. The bottom line is 142 bhp at the wheel for both bike although the Diavel runs stronger at lower revs and hits peak power sooner.
The second chart shows a Redline Motors comparison of an all stock Diavel with a Diavel tuned with a custom map applied to a Power Commander V. This clearly shows the benefits of a custom map, something Ducati New Today discovered when we modded our Monster. This shows an almost 10bhp gain at the peak and, more importantly, an improvement throughout the rev range. Redline also include a run on the dyno with a modified bike that sounds pretty good!
