Picked a Fine Time to Leave Me Loose Wheel

Maxime Berger had a new experience on his Supersonic Ducati during the first World Superbike race at Donington Park – the wheel of his Ducati 1198R looked to have fallen off! It turned out that the rear rim shattered. The race director rather ungenerously labelled Berger’s spectacular exit a crash. Check out the video after the jump.

The rim was an Oz Racing item that apparently was relatively new.

“The wheel that failed had only been used in a few races,” team managerĀ Daniele Soncini said.
