MTS1200 PP 10 thumb Ducati Plans Multistrada 1200S Corse for 2012 [UPDATED]A regulatory filing to the California EPA’s Air Resources Board reveals that Ducati has plans for a new Multistrada 1200 model for the 2012 model year. In addition to the base, S and recently introduced Pikes Peak model, a Multistrada 1200S Corse model is noted in the documentation.

The Corse label is not currently in use since Ducati replaced the 1198S Corse SE with the 1198SP. That Corse model was limited to a paint job, larger and lighter aluminum tank and termignoni mufflers over the standard 1198S specification.

1 1198 S Corse SE thumb Ducati Plans Multistrada 1200S Corse for 2012 [UPDATED]It is not clear to Ducati News Today how such a model would have a viable place in the market if it was limited to solely minor cosmetic changes, the given the 3 current versions of the bike. Perhaps the Corse could be a more hard core spec bike with greater off-road prowess to take on the Adventure BMW models? A relative lack of off road abilities is the only area that the Multi can be found lacking versus its European competition.

UPDATE: A Ducati spokesperson has indicated there are no plans for a Corse Multistrada 1200 model.  The CARB submission was simply a backup name in the event that the Pike Peak name couldn’t be used for the recently released Ducati Multistada 1200S Pikes Peak Special Edition.
