Get Sideways on the Ducati Powered F1 Tracker
Marcus Moto Design is a one man company in Sweden that designs and fabricates concept motorcycles. This one off Ducati 996 based design was inspired by 1970′s Formula 1 cars and 1980′s Motocrossers. It shows how a no compromise Ducati Supermoto / Dirt track racer for the street could look. If you think it would look good in your garage, read on as its for sale.
The Marcus Moto Design F1 Tracker is a Hybrid. A cross between a Hypermotard and a real Flat Tracker like the Ducati 749 flat tracker we have previously featured. A Hyper Hypermotard then or even a Super Scrambler that combines he best elements of a Superbike with those of a Supermoto.
Created out of a damaged 2001 Ducati 996 we think the rawness of the last of the Desmoquattro powerplants suits the intended character of the machine well. It represents 6 months full time effort. Stylistically it combines a raw beauty born out of its functional aesthetic while at the same time carrying functionally superfluous items like the F1 inspired induction intake that hark to its inspiration from a 1975 F1 Ferrari. All is not what it seems however, since the slim design ruled out any possibility of using side mounted intakes as per the original 996 which powers it. So even the style is functional.
Marcus explains that many parts of the bike are one off, in house fabrications.
“The one piece carbonfibre bodywork with aggressive air scoop design feeding the engine with cold air is designed and fabricated by Marcus Moto Design. Paint is by Arnold’s Custom Art. The triple trees are designed using 3D CAD system by us and then milled by Thorbjörn Hjorter. The design of the triple tree and the position of the handle bar was to get the airscoop as close as possible to the main body. The rearsets, gear and brake levers are also designed in 3D CAD by Marcus Moto Design.”
The wheels are Ducati 848 units and the brakes and forks are the expected Brembo and Ohlins units respectively. The battery and all electronics are located underneath the seat inside a carbonfibre box for easy access. Marcus estimates the bike’s dry weight of 160-165kg. The seat, such as it is, is all carbonfibre but another upholstered version in brown leather is planned so that the future owner can tone down how hardcore the ride is!
That’s right, future owner as the F1 Tracker is for sale in order to finance the next project. If you are interesting in owning this bespoke piece of motorcycling art and performance then contact Marcus directly at info@marcusmotodesign.com or via the Marcus Moto Design website.
