Xerox Ducati Ready for Germany after Mugello Test
The factory Ducati World Superbike squad have concluded 2 days of testing at Mugello ahead of this weekend’s German Round of the series at Nurburgring. The test was mostly used to shake the cobwebs out after the month long summer break.
Michel Fabrizio set a fastest time of 1’52.0″ set on qualifying rubber after more than 65 laps on Tuesday before Noriyuki Haga took to the track yesterday. Haga managed a 1’52.6″ on race tires which was 0.3 seconds off the time he set during a similar test last year at the Mugello circuit.
Noriyuki Haga: “This test has been helpful, allowing us to get feeling back with the bike after the summer holiday. It has been useful preparation for this weekend’s German round, giving us the chance to test settings. I completed a lot of laps, trying different set-ups and making constant improvement throughout the day.”
Michel Fabrizio: “The test will hopefully help us make a good race at the Nurburgring. I’ve tried different settings and the new rear tyres provided by Pirelli gave great results.”
Both riders will be hoping for radically improved results as the series resumes this weekend after what has been a challenging season for them both. Ducati has announced that they will not be running a factory team next year.
