Stoner Speaks Out on Rossi Ducati Test
MotoGP rival Casey Stoner has spoken out on the decision facing Yamaha – whether or not to let Valentino Rossi test the Ducati Desmosedici following the final round of the championship in Valencia later this year. With the limited testing allowed now, it will be critical to how fast Rossi can get the Ducati developed to how he wants it.
“From the end of the season they have a lot of time to make parts if something needs to happen. You get every bit of data you can from the Valencia test and in those months they go away and do as much work and thinking about everything as they can before testing starts in the new year. “I think it will be important for them to have that first test so in the ban period they can do as much work as possible.”

It is not clear whether Stoner’s comments should be interpreted as supporting Rossi being allowed to test or warning Yamaha to not let it happen! In any event with only 3 tests in 2011 before the series begins, seat time in Valencia will give Rossi and Ducati a great opportunity to get development started during the winter break and testing ban.
Yamaha have made some noises that they may not release Rossi but have yet to formally respond to Ducati’s request. Ducati has already agreed to release Stoner to test the Honda. It is possible that Yamaha’s decision may be impacted by whether Jeremy Burgess will join Rossi next year. Burgess is expected to announce his future at Misano this weekend.
