Words Fail Me – Ducati Backs Away from Rossi Claims

just say no thumb Words Fail Me Ducati Backs Away from Rossi ClaimsDucati has released a statement denying that agreement has been reached with Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden for their MotoGP team in 2011 just a day after the CEO reportedly told a journalist the deal is done. Of course the deal is done, but Ducati and Rossi just want to orchestrate the announcement to their own schedule. Good luck with that!

As I was just saying to a colleague the other day, it is just so difficult to keep a secret these days! One way to do it is to not know, but of course the CEO knows everything and therein lies the rub. Ducati CEO Gabriele Del Torchio told a Cycle World reporter that the deal was done and Valentino Rossi was on his way to sitting on a Ducati Desmosedici in 2011.

However Rossi himself has said the announcement won’t come before the Brno MotoGP round on August 15th. Whoops! No matter a press release will clear that up.

Today Ducati made a release which is reproduced in full below.

Regarding the recent allegations attributed to Gabriele Del Torchio – Ducati CEO and President, Ducati states that no agreement has been reached with the riders Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden for the future Moto GP season, although our interest in these riders remains.

We would like to say that the recent news which has appeared on the US website Cycle World and other websites has been misreported and must be attributed to the many rumors circulating lately.

Whether and when an agreement is reached, official press releases will be issued.

Ducati News Today expects the final and formal announcement to be made at a press conference following the MotoGP race on the 15th. It wouldn’t surprise us that Rossi is going to work hard to try and take victory despite his injuries after scoring a 4th and a 3rd in his two latest outings following a rapid return to racing from his fractured right tibia and fibia.

In the meantime you can support the Rossi to Ducati cause with Ducati News Today and be in to win a copy of Ring of Fire: The Inside Story of Valentino Rossi and MotoGP by Rick Broadbent.
