Rossi’s success has been amplified by the talents of the Australian and many hope he will join Rossi in Red. Will he?

For the moment, the official word is that it is too early to say. No mention was made of Burgess in the press release and Ducati CEO, Gabriele del Torchio, answering questions from the media, made it clear that no announcement on the matter can be made at this time and that the decision will be mostly Valentino’s.

  • Q: Is Rossi going to bring his entire crew over from Yamaha, which is led by Jerry Burgess?
  • GdT: It is too early to say. At the moment we have finalised an agreement with him. Wait and see.
  • Q: Is it your intention to try to hire them?
  • GdT: It is mainly a decision that we will leave to Valentino.
  • Q: What about Jerry Burgess?
  • VG: At this moment we don’t know what will happen.

However judging by a tweet posted by Rossi’s mechanic, Alex Briggs, it appears that both Yamaha and Ducati may want the talented team with the people involved being offered a choice of which way to go.

“I am now lucky enough to be offered a choice as to where I may work next year when many people just want an opportunity 2 work. I will tell you when I can what I will be doing. I’m afraid that time is not now.”
