We’ll Paint the Ducati Blue if Yamaha will Release Rossi!
Ducati’s Filippo Preziosi is determined to get Valentino Rossi on a Ducati as soon as possible which means the Valencia test which takes place immediately after the final MotoGP of 2010. The problem is that Rossi will remain a contracted Yamaha rider until the end of the year. Somewhat playfully Preziosi has said he’s prepared to paint the Ducati Desmosedici blue if that will placate the Japanese manufacturer.
Preziosi was replying to Yamaha racing head, Masao Furusawa, who has said that Rossi will be wearing blue till the end of the year.
“We will grant any of Furusawa’s wishes, we’ll even paint the bike blue,” Preziosi told Gazzetta dello Sport.

For his part, Rossi remains confident that Yamaha will release him early, something that Ducati is doing for Casey Stoner who is moving to Honda. Honda did release Rossi early to test the Yamaha when he left HRC in 2003, although the circumstances were very different.
“I expect that Yamaha will let me try the Ducati in Valencia. This story is a different story and I gave more to Yamaha from 2004 to now. I improved the bike a lot, so if they are fair, they have to say yes for me to test in Valencia.”

Ducati News Today believes that rhetoric aside, Yamaha will in fact let Rossi test the Ducati since to not do so would be a public relations black eye. It is simply good for MotoGP to see Rossi make the Ducati move and the sooner he gets on board the Desmosedici the greater the glory and interest from the media. so there are considerable back forces at play to make it happen.
Yamaha seem to have defection problems all around with the expectation that crew chief Jeremy Burgess will join Rossi at Ducati and rumors that current Rossi Team Manager Davide Brivio will also be Ducati bound in 2011.
“An historic chapter is coming to a close at Yamaha, and I wouldn’t have had much more to contribute. Nothing is confirmed at the moment, but I have plenty of time to sort out the details about my next job,” Brivio told Italian website GPone. ”But for now I can exclude the possibility of continuing with Yamaha.”
