Rossi Confident Yamaha will Allow Ducati Valencia Test
Valentino Rossi is confident that he will kiss his Yamaha M1 goodbye for the last time at the final round of the MotoGP 2010 Championship at Valencia and be able to jump straight on the Ducati for the official test the next day. Ducati have submitted the request to Yamaha but Rossi will remain under contract with the Japanese concern until the end of the year, so allowing him to test will be at their discretion and goodwill.
So far there has been no response but Rossi is not worried that he will be faced with the same situation as in 2003 when he announced his imminent move from Honda to Yamaha.
Honda and Yamaha are major rivals and Honda forbade Rossi to test the Yamaha in 2003 curtailing his testing opportunities. This didn’t seem to effect him at the time as he won the opening race of the 2004 season, famously kissing his M1 racebike as shown in the photograph.
“I expect that Yamaha will let me try the Ducati in Valencia. This story is a different story and I gave more to Yamaha from 2004 to now. I improved the bike a lot, so if they are fair, they have to say yes for me to test in Valencia.”

For their part, Ducati have already agreed to release Casey Stoner from his contract and thus allow him to test the factory Honda at Valencia.
