Ducati USA Pours Cold Water on Rossi Deal

IMG 1192 thumb Ducati USA Pours Cold Water on Rossi DealWhat a difference 24 hours makes. I went to bed last night with the surprise pre-announcement from Ducati CEO Gabrielle del Torchio that Rossi had signed for Ducati and woke to find Ducati firmly denying any such thing. In the meantime the news generated more froth than a cappuccino. Now Ducati USA has weighed in, adding its denial for good measure.

The Ducati USA release says essentially the same thing as Ducati’s earlier comments on the matter as you can see below.

Regarding the recent allegations attributed to Gabriele Del Torchio – Ducati CEO and President- Ducati states that no agreement has been reached with motorcycle riders Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden in regards to the 2011 MotoGP season, although our interest in these riders remains. The recent report which has appeared on the US web site www.CycleWorld.com has been misreported and is attributed to the many rumors circulating as of late.

At least we know Ducati are interested (you think?). Cycle World and article author Bruno dePrato have stayed quiet with the Cycle World Managing Editor’s Twitter feed in particular going silent.

Ducati is not having a smooth time of it PR wise recently. There is this debacle of course and the botched unveiling of the Ducati 848EVO which was teased to the press and then immediately launched to the world on the web even before the unveiling.

So we are back to waiting for Valentino Rossi himself to let us know his plans during the Brno MotoGP event and finally tell us what we already know. In the meantime you can support the Rossi to Ducati cause with Ducati News Today and be in to win a copy of Ring of Fire: The Inside Story of Valentino Rossi and MotoGP by Rick Broadbent.
