Confirmation that Burgess will Join Rossi at Ducati Expected at Misano
At Indianapolis this weekend there were further signs that Jeremy Burgess and the entire Rossi crew will join Valentino at Ducati next year. Yamaha has pressured the crew chief for an answer and so the announcement is likely to come at next weekend’s San Marino MotoGP at Misano.
The introverted Burgess has seemed to enjoy misleading journalists all over the world with respect to his intentions, indicating that he would both follow his rider and stay at Yamaha. He has played a critical role in Valentino Rossi’s success during his premier class career and so it was always expected that in the end, he would follow his rider to Ducati.
It seems that Yamaha were keen to keep the crew with the Japanese manufacturer, perhaps to work with Ben Spies next year. Rossi’s mechanic, Australian Alex Briggs indicated on Twitter that he had two opportunities for his future, but was unable to speak more about it. Former 500cc GP champ Wayne Gardner has said that he believes Burgess will wait till the last minute before revealing his plans since to do so is in his best interests.
Now it appears that Yamaha has demanded an answer so the charade will end next weekend in Misano when the announcement is expected according to a Motorcycle News journalist.
