This is Getting Ridiculous: Rossi Ducati Announcement at Laguna Seca?

Rossi on Ducati thumb This is Getting Ridiculous: Rossi Ducati Announcement at Laguna Seca? With the interwebs all in a frenzy over the expected Valentino Rossi to Ducati announcement, an Italian paper now claims the deal is done and will be announced during the USA Laguna Seca round of the MotoGP championship scheduled for July 25th. In a twist they claim that Rossi crew chief Jeremy Burgess is staying put at Yamaha.

Now that Rossi has decided to race at this weekend’s German MotoGP, subject to medical approval, the anticipation of his announcement of his future racing intentions are reaching a fever pitch.

Deal is done claims are now a dime a dozen but most people (including Ducati News Today) were expecting Burgess to come along as part of the deal. In fact rumors are circulating that Stoner’s technicians were told just before the announcement of his move to Honda for 2011 that they wouldn’t be required next year (presumably because Burgess and crew were coming).

Now the claim is that Burgess is staying with Yamaha, lured by a cushy post racing job back in Australia. Piffle! We aren’t buying it. We continue to believe that Burgess will follow Rossi as he has intimated in the past, and doesn’t’ want to work with a new rider (presumably Ben Spies).

It did always make sense, however, that Vale would mix his ‘When will I return to racing’ announcement with ‘Who will I race for next year’. Baited breath all around then.
