Rumors are rife that MotoGP star Valentino Rossi will be joining Ducati next year. Ducati News Today has argued this position for some time and believes it is even more likely given Rossi’s current injury. Now the rumors have reached fever pitch claiming that the announcement could come as early this weekends Catalan GP at Barcelona with his Fiat Yamaha teammate joining in on the speculation. UPDATE: On August 15th, Ducati’s official website seems to have let slip the Rossi move with a post entitled ‘Rossi is Red’

Championship leader and aspirant to Rossi’s hegemony in the sport, Jorge Lorenzo, is on record as saying it is more likely than not that Rossi will jump ship next year to a factory Ducati to replace Casey Stoner who is expected to have already signed with HRC.

“I see Valentino’s future in red,” he was quoted as saying as Gazzetta dello Sport. “I think it’s likely he’ll be at Ducati next year. But I would have preferred for him to stay with me at Yamaha, to race each other with the same bike.”

Magazine Motorcyle News has made a splash by claiming that the Ducati deal with Rossi is already done and will be announced as early as this weekend during the Catalan GP in Barcelona.
