Ducati Legend to Race 848 at Mid Ohio

Four-time World Champion Doug Polen will race Ducshop Racing’s Ducati 848 at Mid Ohio’s AMA Superbike round in Lexington, Ohio July 17 & 18. The two-time World Superbike and two-time World Endurance champion will compete in the Pro Daytona Sportbike races, replacing Jake Holden who recently joined the M4 Monster Energy Suzuki team.

A veteran Ducati rider, Polen won both World Superbike titles on Ducatis and boasts two AMA championship titles aboard the Italian marque. Ducati North America recently employed Polen, and his 1-On-1 Riders School, for their “Ducati Fast Track” promotion, offering one day of instruction with the former champion as part of the Ducati Superbike package.

This will be the third AMA round Ducshop Racing has competed in this season, using the series to test and showcase several of its AMA homologated products. The team has scored two top ten finishes in the two rounds they entered and aim to match or better this at the Lexington track.

“Doug is known in the industry as a development rider” says Ducati engine tuner Mark Sutton. “The feedback he can give will help us build on the new product range we’re producing for both street and race use.”

  1. Not my cup off tea.
This type of bike sells very poorly over here. I can count the B-Kings / V-max on one hand that i’ve seen on the road.
I do think these are more popular in the US.
I would like to see a maxi scooter from Ducati at one point.
Half a Testastretta engine sounds nice. 600cc mono cyl.
After all Italy is scooter country ;-)
Vespa is the number one selling bike here 2 years straight…
