Ducati Multistrada 1200S on Pole for Pikes Peak

2010 Pikes Peak qualifying Team Spider Grips Ducati 3 thumb Ducati Multistrada 1200S on Pole for Pikes PeakTeam Spider Grips Ducati has qualified 1st and 3rd for this years Pike Peaks International Hill climb on their mildly modified Ducati Multistrada 1200S racers as the team prepare for Sunday’s assault on the mountain. Ducati are looking to add to their success in 2008 on the Hypermotard 1100.

Team Spider Grips Ducati is fielding a two bike team with riders Greg Trachy and Alexander Smith. who both raced the Hypermotard 1100 up the mountain in 2008. Things are looking good as Trachy set the fastest time of 5’22.7, some 30 odd seconds faster than 2nd position on a Buell. Smith is less than a second further back in 3rd.

It was the luck of the draw that organizers declared the last run on the first day as the official qualifying run.

“Then the race officials give the signal – the next run will be the last, and it is the qualifying run. Because of the nature of the timing, each class will have to do their qualifying runs when they practice off the starting line area. It is just the luck of the draw that the motorcycles will have to qualify on the first day of practice.”
