Ducati Multistrada 1200 Hot as an iPad
The web is awash with tales of woe for those who want to grab Apple’s hot iPad but another Cupertino based company, Ducati, has the same answer for those who want to get on board the hot Multistrada 1200 – Get in line and wait for as much as 60 days!!
Following the national premiere of the new model in the USA, dealers are providing feedback that potential customers have been impressed with the new Multistrada 1200 that Ducati claims is 4 bikes in 1.
“Following the national premiere of the Multistrada, reports are flooding in from our dealers that they haven’t seen this much enthusiasm and demand for a bike since the launch of our groundbreaking 1098 Superbike,” said Michael Lock, CEO of Ducati North America. “The market sees this bike as yet another testament to customers desire to own bikes that are innovative, easy to use and customizable to their individual needs.”
Ducati pre-sold more than 500 Multistradas prior to the bike’s official launch weekend and anticipates that number to double in the coming months. For many of Ducati’s customers, being able to finally ride the Multistrada and experience the four-bikes-in-one capability sealed the deal. However prospective new owners won’t be riding out of the showroom on the same day. Ducati USA estimates a 60 day wait from order to delivery.
Ducati News Today tested the bike and proclaimed the Multistrada 1200 as the next generation of universal motorcycles calling it the best ‘only’ bike ever.
“The Ducati Multistrada 1200 is everything the 1100 model wasn’t, a real honest to goodness do it all motorcycle that you can ride every day, keep up or even lead your friends during spirited sports rides and take your gear and loved one (shouldn’t that be the other way around!) with you when you have more than just a few hours to ride your bike.”

Same here in europe. 3 months waiting. Luckely for me my dealer pre ordered 2 tourings(1 demo and 1 to sell) 2 sports (to sell) and the standard version also for demo use. So the second Touring had my name written all over it:-). And after 2 weeks it was mine.
Now I have 1000km on the clock (620miles) in 2 weeks time and it’s ready for it’s first maintenance and the upload for the full 150bhp.
Can’t wait to finnaly rev it over 6000rpm with the full 150bhp.
Thus far…
Impressed overall , urban mode is most comfortable , brakes are excellent , traction control and abs work perfectly (never thought I would ever need gizmo’s like that / how wrong was I) , and what a sound.
Cons …
You can’t move around in the seat, the millage (+/- 155 miles on a full tank) and this is ridding on normal streets) not bad but I excpected more.
And it stalled on me 3 times when downshiffting.
