Stoner Halts Rossi Testing Hat Trick
Marlboro Ducatis Casey Stoner put a halt to Valentino Rossi’s dominance in pre-season testing today as he posted the fastest time just 1/10th outside his 2009 pole time at the Losail, Qatar circuit which will host the opening round of the 2010 MotoGP Championship.
Rossi who had set the pace at the two earlier test sessions at Sepang, Malaysia and had led day one at Losail was just 5/100ths behind the Australian. Andrea Dovizioso took 3rd fastest for Repsol Honda whilst Dani Pedrosa languished in 13th position. Ben Spies was 4th based on his sub 1′:56″ time set yesterday and fastest of the rookies ahead of Nicky Hayden who like last year took 5th place.
Losail, Qatar will host the opening round of the 2010 MotoGP season on April 11th with the customary night race. Stoner has won all 3 races held at the circuit since 2007 including last year’s rain delayed event.
