Daytona America Superbike Race 2 Results
The 2010 AMA Pro American Superbike season continued on from the first Daytona Superbike race with the first 4 bikes finishing within 2/10ths of a second. The full results are after the jump.
Jake Zemke made it a double as he won an exciting race from race 1 runner up, Tommy Hayden, by just 9/1,000ths of a second at the flag with Ben Bostrom taking 3rd for Yamaha. Aaron Yates was only 2/10th further back ahead of Team Foremost Ducati’s, Larry Pegram, finishing in 5th. Pegram had qualified on the front row on his Ducati 1198R and had been up with the leading trio for much of the race but faded a little towards the end due to tire troubles.
Josh Hayes took 6th place, surely a result he won’t be pleased with whilst John Hopkins retired once again scoring no points for the weekend. In other Ducati news neither Shawn Higbee nor Barrett Long finished the race.
Jake Zemke 1st:- “I saw Tommy out front and thought, ‘I gotta go’. Hats off to Tommy, he rode so well. I actually didn’t know who won the race. I kept looking at the (scoring) tower to see who won, thinking it had me on top but it was going to change. It’s been a great week.”

Pegram 5th:- “We got 5th today . Not what I wanted but had a problem with the rear tire about half way and lucky to finish. I knew going to Daytona we would have problems with the tires on the banking , for some reason our bike over heats the rears a little more than the inline 4′s on the banking. I am very confident going into the rest of the season though as we had good speed in all the sessions up to the race and just had tire problems on the banking.”
