Pundit Likes Stoner for 2010 MotoGP Title
Former motorcycle and truck racer turned MotoGP commentator, Steve Parrish says that Casey Stoner can beat the greatest motorcycle racer of all time, Valentino Rossi, in the 2010 season. Last year was tough for Stoner, sitting out 3 races due to a mystery illness, but he came back strong and in winning form when he returned to the track.
“I’ve actually gone for Casey this season, only because I just keep thinking (in relation to Rossi), nine world championships and 31-years-old, how long can you carry on being that brilliant? He is the greatest of all time as far as I’m concerned. I get a lot of stick from people saying ‘Ah, but what about Mike Hailwood?’, but in my generation Valentino Rossi has been the greatest. It won’t surprise me if he goes out there and wins another [title], but it must just get harder and harder for him every year.

Stoner will resume pre-season testing tomorrow at Sepang along with the rest of the MotoGP regulars. At the last visit to the circuit only a few weeks ago, Rossi clearly set the pace. In an attmept to catch up, Stoner will test a new carbon fiber swingarm on his Ducati Desmosedici GP10. New Ducati team boss, Vitto Guareschi has hopes the change will improve traction.
“We have a completely new carbon fibre swingarm to test basically to improve the outright traction. “With carbon fibre you can be much more precise with the stiffness, so this is why we are continuing to assess this type of swingarm.

Testing will run on Thursday and Friday (Wednesday was only for team test riders) before the teams will conduct the final test to be held at the Losail International Circuit from March 17-19, just three weeks before the inaugural race of the 2010 season at the Qatari venue.
