Hayden Hits His Ducati Stride at Final Sepang MotoGP Test
Marlboro Ducati’s Nicky Hayden shrugged off recent arm surgery to set the 3rd fastest time at the second Sepang 2010 MotoGP pre-season test that completed today. Hayden who failed to perform to the standard he expected of himself in 2009 seems to be clicking with the revised ‘big bang’ style Ducati Desmosedici GP10.
Last season Hayden could do no better than 10th during the Sepang tests and that performance was a portent for his 2009 season struggle on the Desmosedici GP9. His performance began to improve late in the season however and it now looks like Nicky is finally feeling comfortable on the red machine.
Casey Stoner, his team mate, was 2nd fastest just behind an on fire Valentino Rossi who once again was fastest at Sepang (Stoner topped the charts in 2009 pre-season testing), setting a time faster than pole position for the 2009 race!
Tech 3 Yamaha made up the top 5, with Colin Edwards pipping MotoGP rookie and reigning World Superbike champion, Ben Spies.
The final pre-season test will be held at the Losail International Circuit from March 17-19, just three weeks before the inaugural race of the 2010 season at the Qatari venue.
