Ducati Hyperbike – Krisfox 1098 Hypermotard
What would happen if you loved the Supermoto style of the Ducati Hypermotard but found the performance of the 2-valve, Desmodue engine a little, well, limiting. If you’re like me you might sigh and move on. If you’re a passionate Frenchman however, you build your own 1098 powered Hypermotard 1098S.
Known to us only as “Krisfox” the man from Cabrisi, France wanted to try the powerful 4-valve, 1098 engine in a Hypermotard setting. The rolling chassis is in fact a 1098 but since the Hypermotard bodywork doesn’t fit, a number of custom parts were needed.
These include the larger 4.8 gallon fuel tank and the carbon fiber panels. The finished product weighs just 169kg (373lbs) and produces around 165bhp, more than 50% more than a stock Hyper. Not surprisingly the owner says it goes like a bat out of hell.
“It accelerated like a ball. In slow corners it has crazy handling like a 600 supermoto, and on the road its like a Ducati SBK…I am thrilled, I realized the bike of my dreams.”
