@Jock Good points, the new Monster took awhile to grow on a lot of people although many still don't like it. I am sure the Multi12 will be a fine motorcycle but critics of the styling have an equal entitlement to a voice as the fans

I have already placed a deposit on the new 1200, S version (touring). Last year, about this time, they announced the Monster 1100. The Blogs were filled with the same "fugly" and other pejoratives. The critics' instant analyses failed then, as they probably will now relative to the new Multistrada.

In my opinion, the design is growing on me. Here in the DC area we will probably not see the first "S" model until our motorcycle show in January. By April I will be trying to get my break-in complete so I can hit the road to anywhere.

I will grow to love the "beak" knowing I will not be spending a penny on some aftermarket nose cone thereby second-guessing the engineers that may have had function and style in mind when they designed it the way they did. This is not their first rodeo.

The "beak" is the first thing that I looked for, even before realizing the article was about the beak. I do like your rendering of a beak-less version. A nose-job like that would be a real improvement.

Liked the original from the moment I saw it. Considering the type of bike that it is I think it's rather good looking. Really don't understand what all the fuss is about when it comes to the "beak", I agree that it balances the front of the bike and I think it adds character and definition to the overall design.

SO much better. I wouldn't buy the thing as it is. But without the bird's beak, it's a great looking bike.

Much better, watch, now it has no downforce on the front end now which causes instability at high speeds. Ohh form and function...

I think You are mislead. Without the snout the bike looks too high, but fragile on the front. I don't know yet, whether I can aquire the taste for the Multistrada, but it has balanced looks.
