Ducati Importer Builds their Own 848S
Ducati’s 848 is the entry level Superbike in the Ducati family and for that reason there isn’t likely to ever be higher spec versions because they would overlap with the 1198 pricing. That fact doesn’t stop fans of the smallest testastretta evoluzione making their own higher spec versions while they wait (almost certainly) in vain for the factory to build one for them.
Earlier this year Ducati North America made their own Ducati 848R. Perhaps inspired by this, now the UK importer has made their own Ducati 848S. The bike features Ohlins suspension, forged aluminum wheels, steering damper, a slipper clutch and termignoni slip-ons.
SuperBike Magazine tested the machine at Brands Hatch and came away impressed.
Well, I’ll admit to being a bit disappointed that the engine hadn’t had any work to it before I ride it, but the package that Ducati has produced is sublime. It really doesn’t need any more power as it’s plenty fast especially around the confined space of Brands Hatch), but it’s the increased ability in the agility department that really impresses.

The estimated premium for the extra goodies which also includes carbon fiber delights is around 4,000 pounds which of course only the truly committed would be prepared to invest in lieu of simply buying the 1198.
