Would You Date a Ducati?

Picture 2 thumb Would You Date a Ducati?Ducati has launched a social media campaign on a new site that rewards it’s members for sharing brand messages on the web. The campaign takes the form of a fake online quiz that finds the ultimate Ducati date for you!

The ‘It’s Easy to Fall in Love with a Beautiful Italian‘ campaign aims to go viral by asking you questions about your ideal mate and then presenting you with the best Ducati date for you. Naturally the hope is the campaign will go viral with consumers sharing their results across the social media landscape.

This move marks a shift in focus for Ducati marketing following a reshuffle recently in Cupertino that saw the former head of sales, Jason Chinnock, assume Sales & Marketing responsibilities.

“We are in the process of reviewing our entire marketing strategy for next year,” he tells Marketing Daily. “In traditional media, we have been very segment-oriented, but we are branching out to do more non-sector efforts, more lifestyle-oriented programs.”

The move is part of a strategy (a correct one in the editor’s view) to move away from pure product related marketing to acknowledging and supporting Ducati as a lifestyle brand, one of the few things it share with Harley Davidson.

“Ducati, more than any other brand — with the possible exception of Harley-Davidson — is about a lifestyle. It’s about being part of the community and family, so social networking is an important piece of what we have already been doing.”
