Touring Sport Ducati Crashes Out in New Jersey

New Jersey Release pic 1 thumb Touring Sport Ducati Crashes Out in New JerseyCurrent championship leaders Touring Sport Ducshop Ducati crashed their No. 77 PS1000LE out of the AMA Pro SunTrust Moto-GT championship’s penultimate round at New Jersey Motorsports park, hindering their championship lead.

Huntley Nash had a 30 second lead in the GT2 race when the bike in front blew an engine, spreading oil onto the track. The crash broke the handlebar on the championship leading Ducati preventing Nash from returning to the pits for repairs. And as he’d ended up on the wrong side of the track he was inaccessible to the crash truck.

Pete Friedland and Brad Phillips rode a strong race to finish fourth on the team’s No. 38 bike. The team still holds a large championship advantage over its closest rivals and needs only finish fifth or better at the season finale at Daytona International Speedway on October 17 to secure the crown. It was a small disappointment for team owner Frank Shockley, who celebrates his 50th birthday on Tuesday, but he has high hopes for the team for Daytona.
