The rumors were correct. Today Ducati officially announced the Hypermotard 796 which will join it’s 1100 model in the lineup and will be unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan in November. The bike sports a lower seat height and new engine.

Ducati North America, Nicky Hayden and the Make-A-Wish Foundation are pleased to announce today a charity auction for the helmet Nicky wore en route to a podium finish at the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix. The auction is on eBay and ends October 2nd.

Ducati has signed both its current riders for the 2010 World Superbike Championship. Noriyuki Haga and Michel Fabrizio will be retained by the Xerox factory team and both riders appear delighted with the outcome of their contract deliberations.

It looks like for 2010 the Hypermotard family will grow to include a smaller sibling in a similar vein to the Monster family. Reports indicate that Ducati is planning to introduce a Hypermotard 796 at the EICMA show this November.
