Wallpaper Wednesday: 2008 NCR Ducati Mike Hailwood
Welcome to Wallpaper Wednesday. Every week I will post up something beautiful from the world of Ducati that you just might like to have grace your desktop. This week we have the NCR Ducati Mike Hailwood TT based on the Sportclassic model range.
Only 12 of these exquisite motorcycles were made by NCR to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of Mike Hailwood’s iconic return to racing an 11 year absence when he won the 1978 Isle of Mann TT on a Steve Wynn prepared, NCR Ducati 900. The features were commensurate with the US$130,000 price tag and included MotoGP spec Ohlins forks, a 130 bhp version of the desmodue engine and carbon fiber bodywork.
- Titanium frame weighing only 5 Kg (11 lbs)
- New NCR 1120cc race engine with a billet cransaft in superalloy producing 130 Hp at 8,700 RPM and 13.5 Kgm (98 ft-lb) or torque at 7,000 RPM
- New NCR-EFI Euro 1 engine management system integrated with a AIM MXL Pista display and Lambda closed loop control
- Carbon fiber bodywork with a new spin on historical colors
- New MotoGP Ohlins FGR 900 Pressurized front fork with adjustable triple clamps
- Carbon fiber wheels and full titanium exhaust system
- Ultralight front fairing stay
It doesn’t make any financial sense but the bike is simply gorgeous and is a testament to the classical engineering beauty of the older 2-valve Ducati’s even if it is based on the new, retro look Sportclassic range.
