Ducati’s new Adventure Tourer to be coined ‘Cayenne’? Or Not
Visordown is reporting that that Ducati has chosen the name ‘Cayenne’ for their 2010 Adventure Tourer / Multistrada replacement bike that many believe was to be called the ‘Strada Aperta’ (Italian for Open Road).
As ducatinewstoday predicted the bike will have an engine based on the 1098 with the 1198 engine being reserved for the Superbike range.
The bike, currently being ‘caught’ out testing on the roads near the factory, is powered by a water-cooled, two-cylinder 1098cc motor the same as is used in the Streetfighter but the power in taken down from 155 to 140bhp.

The Cayenne name strike me as unlikely given it is used by by Porsche for their stylistically challenged SUV and that the Strada Aperta name seems so much more apt. MCN agrees, claiming that sources have been quick to deny the Cayenne name.
Whatever the name, with a 20 liter (5.3 US gallon) there should finally be a Ducati with a decent range!
It had been reported elsewhere the bike would be named after Porsche’s four-wheel-drive SUV but insiders told MCN this was untrue. It is more likely to be named the Strada Aperta according to sources.
